AEF Hosts Successful Events To Benefit Students

Recently, the Foundation hosted its annual Hall of Fame Luncheon and Jeans & Jewels Fundraiser at the Broadway Ballroom in conjunction with homecoming festivities. Proceeds from the events, which totaled nearly $14,000, will go to fund innovative teaching ideas that increase learning opportunities for students in Alexandria Public Schools.

AEF established the Hall of Fame event to honor deserving alumni and staff for excellence, accomplishments, and recognition in their field or fields. This year, 3 individuals were inducted as the Hall of Fame class of 2015- Joan Ballard Larson, H. Dan Ness, and James O. Woolliscroft, M.D. Over 200 alumni, family, friends and community members attended the luncheon held October 2.

2015 Jeans and Jewels EventLater that evening, the Foundation hosted the Jeans & Jewels fundraiser around the theme of “Music Makes the World Go Round.” Over 350 attended this special event which serves as an appreciation event for all Foundation contributors, an opportunity for potential members to learn more about the Foundation, as well as a fundraiser open to the public. The event featured jewelry prize drawings, a live auction, special event prizes courtesy of local donors, silent auction items, a game of Musical Chairs, and a ‘Foundation Feud’, making it a fun evening for all!

The 2016 Hall of Fame luncheon and Jeans & Jewels Fundraiser have been set for Friday, September 30, 2016. Mark your calendar and plan to join us!
