Accomplishments/Work History:
- Jefferson High School, Band Director, 1991-1998
- During his tenure at JHS, the Marching Band placed first or second in 80 competitive parades and included trips to the Fiesta Bowl and Rose Bowl Parades.
- Served for 18 years as student teacher supervisor for Luther College
- Founder of Iowa’s Tri-State Judges Association, 1985
- Over 30+ years, business grew to provide judges for up to 40 summer parades, 10 fall field show competitions and up to 20 band clinics annually.
- Elected to Phi Beta Mu, an honorary band directors organization, 1996
- Inducted into the Minnesota Music Educators Hall of Fame in 2011 and presented with the Iowa Bandmasters Karl King award in 2017.
- Recipient of Outstanding Music Educator Award for Section IV (IA, IL, WI, IN, & MI) by the National Federation of High Schools.
- Judged solo and ensemble competitions along with large group contests for choirs, jazz bands, concert bands, marching bands, and orchestras for the Iowa and Minnesota State High School Leagues.
- Involved with judging All-State auditions for 20 years in both states and fortunate to have his concert and jazz bands selected to perform at IBA and MMEA Conventions five times.
