- Considered “the most knowledgeable expert on medical aspects of birds of prey in the world”
- Coordinator, Peregrine Falcon Restoration Project in nine Upper Midwestern States (1984-1998)
- Appointed member and Veterinary Coordinator of California Condor Recovery Team
- Earned Lifetime Service Awards from College of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Minnesota
- Included on University of Minnesota’s Wall of Discovery – pioneering work in the development and teaching of orthopedic methods unique to avian species
