Accomplishments/Work History:

  • Jefferson High School, Band Director, 1981-1997
  • During his tenure, the JHS Band program grew to include four auditioned concert bands, two jazz ensembles, pep band, and a 275-member marching band.
  • Co-founder of Vikingland Band Festival, 1985
  • Growth of the band program had a significant impact on the growth of the Vikingland Band Festival, attracting the top high school bands to the Festival.
  • Instrumental in building a prestigious Jefferson High School Marching Band program to rank among the state’s best.
  • JHS Marching Band performed and competed in 8-10 parades throughout Minnesota in the summer, enjoying consistent competitive success.
  • Every 3 years, JHS Marching Band provided a travel experience at prominent parades or competitions throughout the United States.
  • Alexandria concert bands showcased at the Minnesota Music Educators Conference, 1991
  • Entire APS Music Department received the Minnesota Music Educators Association “Exemplary Music Program Award”, 1994
  • Vikingland Band Festival Grand Marshal, 1994
  • JHS Marching Band claimed national championship by earning the “Sweepstakes” award at the Fiesta Bowl Parade, Phoenix, AZ, 1995
